Our September luncheon is fast approaching, and we’ve got a great afternoon lined up at the Duke of Wellington with special guest speaker Ted Whitten Jnr.
A familiar name to generations of Victorian football fans, Ted carved out an impressive VFL career in his own right, playing 144 games and kicking 133 goals for Footscray across nine seasons and earning selection to represent Victoria.
The son of legendary Bulldogs champion and “Mr Football” E.J. Whitten, Ted has also played an important role in continuing his father’s legacy. Following E.J.’s passing from prostate cancer in 1995, Ted established the E.J. Whitten Foundation, helping raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research and men’s health.
With September footy in full swing, we’re looking forward to hearing Ted’s stories from his playing days, growing up with one of the biggest names in Australian football, and his life in and around the game.
Please remember that this month’s luncheon is being held on the third Wednesday of the month, rather than our usual second Wednesday.
