Bookings for September are currently well below where we’d normally expect them to be, and we’d love to see a few more familiar faces around the tables at the Duke of Wellington on Wednesday 16 September. We’ve got a terrific guest speaker in Ted Whitten Jnr, and with September footy in full swing, it promises to be a great afternoon. Ted played 144 games and kicked 133 goals for Footscray, represented Victoria, and of course grew up alongside one of the biggest personalities Australian football has ever known — his father, the legendary E.J. Whitten. There’ll be plenty of great footy stories, but just as importantly, it’s another opportunity to get together and enjoy what our Club has always been about — Good Beer, Good Beef and Good Fellowship. So, if you’ve been thinking about coming along, we’re asking you to please get behind this one and book a seat. Our friends at the Ballarat Beer & Beef Club have invited Melbourne members to join them for a fantastic day of jumps racing at the Ballarat Turf Club on Sunday 16 August 2026. Held as part of the E-Cycle Ballarat Jumps Racing, the day promises plenty of racing action along with the good food, good beer and fellowship we all enjoy across the Beer & Beef community. Tickets are $115 per person and include a two-course meal and drinks package from 11.00am to 3.00pm, including beer, wine and soft drinks. There will also be a club raffle with some great prizes, and partners and guests are very welcome to attend. It’s a great opportunity to support our fellow Beer & Beef members in Ballarat, enjoy a day at the races and catch up with members from outside the Melbourne Club. David brings extensive experience in the not-for-profit and food relief sectors and leads two of Australia’s most impactful organisations addressing food insecurity. His insights into community support, sustainability, and the role of the hospitality and food industries in driving positive social outcomes promise to make for an engaging and informative presentation. Following on from the success of our last two dinner events at St Andrews, this will be an evening event kicking off at 6PM. A long-time favourite with Beer & Beef members, the St Andrews Hotel has recently been recognised at the highest level, winning Best Pub Restaurant in Metropolitan Victoria at the 2025 Australian Hotels Association (AHA) Awards, followed by the National AHA Award for Australia’s Best Pub Restaurant.
